To buy a 4 person sauna that you'll be happy, you need to do some thinking and planning ahead. After all, it will not be a cheap purchase!
Here are some things you need to know before you shop...
Do you want a far infrared sauna or a traditional hot air sauna?
If you're not sure about the difference between an infrared sauna and a hot air sauna, skim my article about infrared saunas.
Should you buy a pre-cut 4 person sauna kit, pre-built modular sauna kit or build your own?
A pre-cut sauna kit will cost less money than a modular kit, but…
1. pre-cut kits are more of a challenge to set up, and 2. they’re usually permanently placed once they’re built.
Modular sauna kits are more expensive because most of the assembly is done up front. All you have to do is attach 4 or 5 panels together. You can possibly accomplish this in as little as 30 minutes.
If you want the choice of taking your sauna with you if you relocate, a modular kit is your best choice.
Building your own sauna is definitely the most labor intensive option, but it can also be the most rewarding. You can design all the aspects of your sauna.
Will guests be using your sauna or just you and certain family members?
You can buy or build a sauna big enough for 4 people or large enough to hold 10 or more.
You can also build or purchase a model that includes an attached changing room and shower area. These options will be especially useful if your sauna will be included in your entertainment plans.
Expect to spend more for a sauna with those additions.
Another questions is…
Do you want it inside or outdoors?
If you want to set up your sauna outside, it needs to be made to endure different weather elements.
This shouldn’t be a problem – you can buy an outdoor sauna kit that will include the building materials you need.
If you’re considering outdoor placement, check the local building codes first! You might need to apply for a permit.
Do some evaluating!
You want to buy a high quality sauna, not some junk that you will have to throw out in a couple of years, right?
Be careful about who you buy your sauna from! Don’t shop based purely on price. You know what they say – you often will get what you pay for.
Here are a couple of things you can do…
Evaluate warranties. Compare warranties by looking closely at the details.
Ask for referrals. Try to talk to former customers of a dealer. (In a moment, I will show you a good information resource)
If you're buying your sauna online, I think you should evaluate websites also. A poorly designed site or one with huge promises about what saunas will do for you may be indicative of a company selling inferior merchandise.
That’s not necessarily true, but it's something to consider.
Use the information in this article and you will most likely buy a 4 person sauna that will satisfy you for years to come.
