Family Sauna Kits

What to know before you purchase

A home sauna provides such a great place to relax and relieve tension... It's no wonder many home owners want to set up a sauna for their families to enjoy.

Making the right choice for your sauna requires knowing a few things first...

One of the first things you'll should know before you buy a family sauna kit is if you want an infrared sauna or traditional sauna. If you're not sure about the difference, see the article about infrared saunas.

Here are some other critical things you'll need to know to make the right choice...

How Large?

This one is pretty obvious... Before you buy a family sauna kit, you need to know how many people you want your sauna to be able to hold.

2 to 4 people? 10 or more? Of course, you'll also have to know if the space you're considering for your sauna will be large enough to accomodate it.

This leads us to...

Indoors or Outdoors?

If it's indoors, of course you'll need to know that the size of the family sauna you want will fit the space you're considering.

Want your sauna outdoors? You can set up your family sauna kit in your front or back yard, patio, or poolside if you have a pool.

Before you even consider outdoor placement, you should check your local building codes first. You may need to obtain a permit before you set up a sauna outdoors.

It would be a shame to go through the trouble of setting up an outdoor sauna for your family only to be fined or told it has to be taken down.

What Kind Of Kit?

This is something you'll want to give some thought to...

There are modular sauna kits (also known as pre-fab saunas) and there are pre-cut kits.

So what's the difference?

Pre-cut sauna kits include all necessary components and pieces to assemble a full size sauna.

Pre-cut family sauna kits cost less than modular sauna kits, but you'll need to have some handyman skills or you'll need to hire someone to assemble the sauna.

You'll have to frame up your own walls and provide your own insulation.

Assembly instructions are included when you purchase, but you'll still need some moderate carpentry skills or good aptitude for piecing things together.

You can read more about precut sauna kits here.

Pre-built modular sauna kits are much easier to assemble than pre-cut kits, but they do cost more as a result.

In addition to being easy to assemble, an advantage they have over pre-cut kits is they're easy to relocate. If you want or need a different spot for your sauna, piece of cake...

Modular saunas are portable - simply detach the panels and reattach them at your new location.

Pre-cut kits don't offer that level of portability.

Read more about pre-built modular sauna rooms here.

After you're able to answer these critical questions, you can shop as a more informed consumer when you buy your family sauna kit.
