Sauna Party

Looking for some ideas or suggestions for a sauna party? You should be able to take away some useful tips from this article to plan a memorable event.

Hosting A Fun, Safe Party

Throughout history, the sauna has been used by families and friends as a place to bond and to enjoy the healing properties of taking a sauna.

Throwing a sauna party can be a happy and fun way to unwind and relax with your closest friends.

Here are some simple tips you can use to throw a successful party.

First, be sure to inform your guests that they need to bring bathing suits (kinda goes without saying).

Health Precautions

Saunas are very safe when used properly, but the sauna does present a potential health risk to some people.

Most notably, pregnant women or people who have high blood pressure or respiratory conditions.

In Sauna Therapy, Dr. Lawrence Wilson advises pregnant women to be on the safe side and spend no more than 10 minutes at a time in a sauna.

Regarding high blood pressure, Dr. Wilson says that saunas generally don’t raise blood pressure. However, if it’s a concern, he advises checking blood pressure every 10 minutes.

For anyone with a respiratory condition, Dr. Wilson says to sit up comfortably and breathe slowly and deeply.

Saunas can have a dehydrating effect on the human body. Make sure that there is plenty water to drink.

Food and Alcohol Warning

Saunas and alcohol do not mix! Alcohol can cause a false sensation of how hot you are, possibly allowing you to stay in the sauna too long.

You should avoid eating for an hour or two before using a sauna.

Blood is required to digest food, and a sauna causes blood to be shunted away from internal organs to your skin. This can interfere with digestion and could cause cramping.

Finally, it’s convenient if you have adequate shower and changing facilities so your guests can clean up and prepare for the other half of the party.

And what’s the “other half” of the event? It simply includes all the features of a normal party: food, good music, some alcohol, and warm hospitality.

Now, have fun at your sauna party!
