So far I prefer sauna

by ian
(Johannesburg South Africa)

I have been using sauna for many years in gyms. I can sweat quite profusely and measured a loss of 1 kg weight before and after sauna. (Of course, one regains it by drinking water afterwards).

One of the medical advantages is that it reduces mild hypertension because of the temporary loss of blood (water) volume (as well as sodium) in the body provided that one does not stay longer than 10 minutes or so.

A long stay may be harmful for the heart because of potassium loss. If you have heart disease or high hypertension, consult your doctor before taking sauna.

By the way, I just started steam bath in a new gym and so far I like it (and take a cold shower afterwards to close the open skin pores).
