Steam Room Generator

Tips for choosing the right one, plus
where you can buy one at a low price

Whether you have a home steam room or steam shower, a steam room generator is what makes it work.

Many steam room dealers sell generators in addition to full size steam rooms. They do provide some guidance in choosing the right one for your needs.

Here are some tips for choosing the right generator for your steam room or steam shower.

Buying A Steam Room Generator

Choosing the correct sized steam bath generator is the most important thing to do if you want a steam room or shower that works right.

Generators are rated by their output capacity measured in cubic feet. Sounds complicated, but this simply refers to the actual size of the steam room.

The cubic feet can be measured by multiplying the height by the width and the length of the enclosure.

For example, if you have a steam room that is 2 feet wide, 8 feet long, and 8 feet high, the enclosure is 128 cubic feet.

If the walls and ceilings are covered in ceramic tile, you can use a generator which is rated at about 120 cubic feet to 130 cubic feet.

If the walls and ceilings include glass or stone, however, your steam bath generator should be rated at about 250 cubic feet.

Cost Factors

Size is a big factor in the price of a generator. For example, larger generators are more expensive.

However, prices will vary among manufacturers for units of equal size.

The price of a steam generator is also affected by...

• the quality of the machinery
• the amount of aftermarket service the manufacturer offers
• extra add-on features

Installation

Most steam generators can be installed up to 20 to 40 feet away from the steam room enclosure.

Besides being in an insulated spot, it also needs access to electricity and water. There should also be a drain close by.

Once the proper generator has been selected, you have to decide on an installation location. The generator should be installed in a low traffic area.
