WARNING: Use caution if you choose to take saunas and steam baths. In some extreme cases, acne conditions can be aggravated. If this concerns you, can do one of two things:
Try taking a short 10 minute steam bath or sauna and see if this aggravates your condition, or
Get a consultation from an expert such as a Dermatologist to find out if you should avoid sweat baths in your case.
Three Useful Tips for Skin Care and Acne Treatment
If you've done searches around the web or talked to different people, you might have found yourself frustrated by all the information out there. You know by now that there are literally hundreds of acne control techniques that are recommended, and they all probably work for some people.
Here are three basic tips that anyone with (or without) acne problems can use:
Tip #1 - Watch what you eat. Eat foods that are high in fiber and drink lots of water. Doing this will help keep your digestive tract moving.
This is very important for your overall health and will help prevent your skin from being burdened by a build up of waste materials in your system.
You may not like the extra trips to the bathroom (who does), but hey – your skin and health are worth it, right?
(Mike Walden is a nutritionist and the author of Acne No More. In the book he outlines 10 foods you shouldn't eat and 10 foods that you should always eat. Check it out here.)
Two things…
1. Eating healthier foods in general will help ensure that your skin is
getting nutrients that it needs, which can help enhance its
appearance.
2. Food allergies can contribute to acne. Allergy testing could help
you determine which foods (if any) you should avoid. For example,
this may include wheat products, dairy, or food preservatives.
Tip #2 - Detoxify your body. Taking steam baths and saunas are two ways to eliminate toxins and increase circulation. This brings a flood of oxygen and nutrients toward the surface of your skin, however…
You need to make sure you shower immediately after you exit a steam room or sauna. If you can't, wipe the sweat away with a clean towel and try to shower shortly afterward.
Tip #3 - Keep your skin clean. Wash your face twice a day with warm water and a gentle pH balanced soap that doesn't contain sulfur, chemicals, or perfume. Don't touch your face unless your hands are clean.
Again, there is no single acne treatment that works for everyone, but putting those three tips to use consistently can help keep your skin looking vibrant and youthful.
Acne and the Immune System - Our body's immune system is responsible for its protection from diseases. When this immune system weakens, our body starts showing symptoms of various disorders. Acne is one such condition.
